Bid on Annabeth's Doodle: Auction Underway

The eBay auction for National Doodle Day is now underway, and you can now bid on Annabeth's doodle through May 18th!

A reminder these doodles have a very important aim: the funds raised from the auction will benefit NF, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF). Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 2,500 births. NF is more common than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington’s Disease combined. Funds raised from the Doodle Day auction will go to support education, advocacy, coalitions, and research for treatments and a cure.

Annabeth Doodles for Doodle Day

As part of NF Awareness month, Annabeth has been invited by her former X-Files co-star Gillian Anderson, a longtime supporter of NF, Inc., to participate in this year's Doodle Day, whereby Annabeth has created a one of a kind doodle that will be available for auction on eBay from May 8th - 18th.

Annabeth Helps Celebrate Duke Prof's 50-year Tenure

As reported earlier, Annabeth paid a visit to her alma mater, Duke University, this past weekend to help celebrate Professor Reynolds Price's 50-year tenure at the university.

'Brotherhood' Renewed For Third Season

Retro Interview w/Annabeth @ The Cradle

Back in the Spring of 2007 and shortly after the birth of her son, Cash, Annabeth did an interview with The Cradle, where she discussed all-things pregnancy and motherhood.

The Cradle: How did you come about [your son's] name, Cash Alexander?

Annabeth: Alexander means leader of men, which is auspicious. But he doesn’t have to be a leader if he doesn’t want to. And Cash was a name that my husband loved and chose .... it’s kind of cowboy-esque. It’s the name that we always liked the most [during pregnancy] but popped a few more names into the ring to have options. We were going to wait to see what he looked like…even though we knew he was going to be Cash.

EXPRESS: What sort of parties do you throw?
GISH: I don't believe in themes, since we're really easy-going. The only requirement at our parties? That people don't mind bare feet and lots of red wines ....

PTR: What’s up next for you? Any chance you’ll appear in the now-confirmed second X-Files film that will be released next year?

Annabeth Gish: No, I am officially not going to be in the X-Files movie. I didn't expect to be, although I can't pretend I wasn't hoping for even just a cameo appearance with Robert [Patrick] so [the characters of] Doggett and Reyes could live again, but alas .... I have always understood it was a Mulder/Scully show at all times. We hitch-hiked and got a great ride for two years, I met my husband [whilst on the show], and it was [just] a fantastic time in my life. So I am grateful for all that it was, but knew we would not likely be asked to carry anything forward. I will be excited to see the film as a fan of the mythology.

Frank, Chellas and crew reteam for 'Knife'

The team that brought The Eleventh Hour to Canadian screens is wrapping the Toronto shoot of its CTV MOW Who Named the Knife. A fictional adaptation of the 2007 book by Linda Spalding, the $4-million two-hour drama (set to also bow on Lifetime in the States) follows the budding relationship between a woman and a female convict who she believes is wrongfully imprisoned.

"The two lead characters are women, and it's a story you don't often read about women," says screenwriter and exec producer Semi Chellas. "It has the quality of journalism like in The Eleventh Hour, where the characters are digging into the facts and picking up the pieces to create a story."

Annabeth Gish (Brotherhood, The West Wing) plays Sally Linden, a murder trial juror who feels reasonable doubt about the charges, but is dismissed from jury duty before deliberations start. The woman, Theresa, played by Chandra West of NYPD Blue, is convicted. Flash forward 15 years, Sally tracks Theresa down and works through her initial feelings of doubt to uncover a possible misjudgment.

"This project has elements of some great dramas like Dead Man Walking ... and this great BBC production Longford by Peter Morgan. They're all about relationships with someone in real life and someone in prison," Chellas says.

Executive producer Ilana Frank worked with Chellas (and Spalding's scriptwriter daughter, Esta) on The Eleventh Hour, and the duo pitched the script to CTV's then-creative head of dramatic programming Tecca Crosby and former SVP of programming Bill Mustos. Despite the departure of both execs from the network, Chellas says the relationship with CTV has not changed. Production exec Kathleen Meek is now the go-to person for the terrestrial, and she was on board with the project from day one, when she was the manager of BCE drama development.

The supporting cast includes Maury Chaykin (Entourage), Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica) and Headstones' lead singer Hugh Dillon (Durham County). Although Chellas wasn't involved with the casting, she admits to having pictured Dillon in the role of the villain. "He can play compelling, charming and frightening, so there's a joy in watching him on set," she says.

The crew behind the MOW includes exec producer Daniel Iron (Away from Her) for Toronto's Thump. Director David Wellington recently wrapped up work on Frank's latest mini, Would Be Kings, also due on CTV, and worked with Chellas on the Showtime/CBC MOW Restless Spirits.

The majority of Who Named the Knife was filmed in Toronto, but some of the cast and crew will be making the journey to Hawaii at the end of the year to wrap the project.

Hi Everyone.

Well, time has been moving at such a blurry, speedy pace these days I can hardly keep track of the hours and weeks as they go by. Motherhood is a totally consuming, exhilarating and exhausting exercise in love and patience. I can't believe my son is already 8 months old, a delicious boy just starting to skooch around and explore words, sounds and tastes. It is all an endless journey of discovery both for Cash himself and for Wade and I as we watch this little being carve out his place in the world. "Wow" doesn't quite cut it, and yet it kind of summarizes my constant state of revelation.

The second season of "Brotherhood" start[ed] airing on Sunday, September 30th. It's a little different, this season from last, in many ways... I will be anxious to hear what your thoughts and reactions to the show are as it plays out. As usual, I haven't seen any episodes cut together, so I too, will form my opinion as I watch - if I can handle it. I am definite about the fact that I don't like to watch my work while I am in the process of actively doing it, but sometimes it's hard to watch even after I've walked away and the work is done. (But is it really ever done? Finished maybe, but not perfect)! I can't say enough about my fellow actors - all of them so great in the show, great to work with and good, good people. There was something about this second season, everyone reunited, their lives reorganized to work back again in Providence, RI, that brought out a fuller bonding. The cast and crew becomes a family, odd and eclectic, with everyone being there for each other both on the set and off. Whether or not we have a third season is very much in the hands of the viewers ... if we get more people watching, then we have a good chance for a third season. Watch away!
